To become accredited for Skanska's Essex Building Schools for the future programme, interested supply chain partners will be required to undertake pre-qualification procedure specific to the Health, Safety and Environmental risk of packages of work.

For initial registering of interest suppliers and sub-contractors will need to email us:

essex.supplychain@skanska.co.uk

All trade contractors will be assessed in terms of capabilities and suitability for works to be undertaken at this stage. Those with the appropriate levels of experience will be taken to the next stage.

For medium / low risk works, trade contractors are will be asked to complete a Skanska online pre-qualification questionnaire.

For high risk works potential supply chain members are encouraged to apply for a qualified Achilles audit to verify information provided in the PQQ and ensure management systems meet the required standards. The audit itself which attracts a fee covers a wide variety of areas, including health, safety, environmental and quality management, employment practices, ethics and social responsibility. Depending on the nature of the work and size of company this fee will range from between £1750 - £3000 per annum.

The associated benefits of being Achilles accredited include a cost effective way of identifying risks, weaknesses and improvement areas as well as exposure to POTENTIAL NEW BUSINESS WITHIN all Skanska UK operating units and wider Building Confidence members.

SKANSKA WOULD LIKE TO MAKE CLEAR THAT ADOPTION OF ACHILLIES IS NOT MANDATORY. HOWEVER ANY COMPANY THAT WOULD PREFER NOT TO TAKE THE ACHILLIES ROUTE WILL BE NOT BE DISADVANTAGED DURING THE TENDER ANALYSIS PROCESS. THESE COMPANIES WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A SKANSKA PQQ AND WILL BE AUDITED BY SKANSKA AT NO CHARGE.
