Introduction
Thurstable School is a comprehensive serving over 1500 students aged from 11 to 18. The school was founded in 1957 and is situated in Tiptree, a village situated between Colchester and Chelmsford. Its most notable attribute is the large preserves factory, Wilkin & Sons. Wilkins products are known and sold the world over.
In 2002 the school was awarded the status of specialist sports college and was host school for a large school sports partnership. The students contribute well to both the school and local community and are enthusiastic partcipants in wide range of school activities including fund raising. There is also a student council which is growing in its role of decision making within the school. |
