Introduction
Shorefields is a New Model Special School which puts the child and family at the centre of its activities.
The BSF programme will strengthen and embed the features associated with New Model Special School status. As a result it will enable the school to:
- Provide children and families with real choice of special vs. mainstream education
- Provide special education alongside integration in mainstream and community if appropriate
- Provide mainstream students with opportunities to work alongside those with special needs
- Provide appropriate high quality individual education and care for students with a widening range of needs including those in vulnerable groups
- Provide an education that is robustly planned, delivered and evaluated against hard evidence
