The Philip Morant School and College

Introduction
Philip Morant School is a comprehensive foundation school and college. It has fewer than 2,000 students aged between 11 and 18. The school was founded in 1965 and is situated in the Prettygate suburb of west Colchester. It is named after Rev Philip Morant who wrote both ‘The History & Antiquities of Colchester’ and ‘The History & Antiquities of Essex’.  It was awarded Technology status in 1994.

The school offers a strong resource base for the deaf. The school also has a singing choir with a national reputation. The students themselves make a positive impact on the community and regularly raise money for various charities. In the college there is a strong student commitment to the College Association which also holds various events. Students in the school and college enjoy many extra curriculum activities including drama, music and sport.
