Introduction
Glenwood is a community special school for pupils aged 3 to 19 years and is based in Benfleet. The school caters for pupils with a complex range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities, all of whom have statements of special educational needs. Over two-thirds have severe learning difficulties and the remainder have profound, multiple learning difficulties. Significant numbers, have physical needs and over a third have a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder. The school is due to move into new accommodation in 2013. It works in partnership with local schools and colleges. It has achieved the Intermediate Healthy Schools Award and a local Silver Healthy Eating Award. |
